Love, Marriage, and Stinking Thinking - Spiritual Leader in the Home

Join Mark and Debbie on this week’s episode as they take on the subject of spiritual authority and the concept of the husband being the spiritual leader in the home. Many Christian marriages struggle and stumble in this area because we have created an image where the man is supposed to do everything from taking care of finances to praying to being the one who hears from God and more. Hear how Mark challenges this image and find out why he thinks that a more correct model is that of the King and Prophet… a model that is shown to be very effective throughout scripture. Both husbands and wives will find their relationship is accompanied by less resentment and more freedom when they understand that there are two roles and men don’t have to fulfill both. Hey, I am not normal, I have read probably over a hundred books in my life, maybe even two hundred or more.

It is the husbands responsibility to sanctify and cleanse his wife with the washing of water by the word. This is Christ’s example. How can a husband have a relationship with a God that he can’t hear from. Makes no sense. Also please note that God did use prophets to speak to Kings but he also spoke directly to Kings. (Read & Study your bible)

(Read Exodus Chapter 3&4) Also Read (Ephesians 5:22-33) It clearly states: Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that he might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she should be holy and without blemish.

I like listening to marks videos. However, I had to disagree with this teaching. I went through my bible and reference scripture in the old as well as the New Testament regarding spiritual leadership for men (husbands). Mark stated that God spoke to Aaron and Moses did not do anything. God simply used Aaron because Moses was afraid.

Good stuff. Awesome!!!

Why don’t you open the show with prayer?

awesome Truth! Finally!!!!

Although Mark has a few valid points here, I’m not a fan of this episode. Question Mark. What is a Christian? If by definition it is a “follower of Christ” then this husband is not a Christian. He may believe that Jesus is the Son of God… but that doesn’t make him a Christian. Satan believes this as well, and trembles… but that doesn’t make him a Christian. This husband obviously does not have a good relationship with God… He can hardly be compared to Moses.

I enjoyed seeing this again. It is my husband’s absolute favorite episode! His comment was “Whew - you needed to hear this one!” We love watching-thank you.
Fellow frozen chosen family.

Is that the whole seaseon?
When are more to come?

I enjoyed hearing a broader thoughts process about the roles of married folks. It is good to hear a non-traditional approach to this journey.

Its funny to watch this ridiculous pairing of two sheep attempt to make things like Greek mythology seem silly and outlandish, while promoting their equally ridiculous, god-eating religion. amen idiots.

No this is not letting the man off the hook. Putting expectations on a man- does not motivate him to want to. A man will see the need to lead with his wife, when a wife may be weak in spiritual authority, But if she is very strong in it, He does not see the need to be the leader, and lets himself take that break.
Men do not respond to nagging, negative approaches…as we women would not.

Isn’t this letting the man off the hook. The woman should be the strong example and continue without a word in hopes that someday he will hear the message. What happens to the male child of the family when they follow in dad’s lazy footsteps and tells mom that they are no longer going to church, praying, etc., because dad doesn’t. “Do as I say not as I do” never works. Mark is too easy on the male. Society has enough weak, do as I want males. Pussy footing the male only enables futher excuse.

It’s supposed to have Christian bias or Biblical bias, it’s a Christian show with Christian / Biblical principles.

Well said.

On another note, I really loved this episode!

Asking them to tone it down is like walking into a mosque and asking the Imam to stop talking about Allah. It’s not going to happen.

Well, it is a Christian show, and the people in it are Christians, are the people sending in questions looking for answers are Christians, and the question they are answering has to do with the Bible.
Of course the answers given are going to be Christian answers.

I do like it its very informative for relationships
and im not saying all christians should stfu
if this show said Muslimism every second word id say tone it down a bit to
i dont descriminate against any religion you got freeodm of beleif and freedom of speech but honestly look how much christian bias is in this. im sorry but seriously

So, if you don’t like it, how about just not watching?

Sometimes, as Christians, we get really tired of being told to water down and tone down our message. Because we hear that from people… like daily. At least I do, especially on youtube. If we can’t have the freedom to speak our minds on our own videos… what has happened to free speech?

This guy is rlly religious and sometimes it gets annoying…especially to non-christians. I get your rlly devout to your religion and stuff but seriously turn down the religious bias a little bit
